Conventions 2026

2026 Collin County Precinct Convention  - Saturday, March 7th

The Precinct Convention will be held at Collin College, Frisco Campus Convention Center (map)

The Precinct Convention is the first and one of the most crucial steps in the political process. It is your chance, as a voter as the lowest grassroots level, to voice your opinion with the submission of resolutions to be considered in the other conventions. The delegates will be seated by Precinct.

The purpose of a Precinct Convention is twofold:

1.  Attendees select delegates to the upcoming Senate District Conventions

2.  Submit, discuss and pass resolutions which are forwarded on to the Senate District Convention.

Proposed resolutions can be an addition to the current Republican platform or a refinement to the current Republican  platform.  Please check the existing platform before you submit your resolution...it will save everyone time!  Texas RPT Platform here

If you vote in the 2026 Republican Primary Elections, you qualify to attend your Precinct Convention!

Important:

  • Republican primary voters, that are nominated in their Precinct Convention, are eligible to attend their Senatorial District Convention.

  • The resolutions that were submitted and passed in the Precinct Convention will be considered in the SD convention for inclusion in the SD 8 platform.

  • Each Precinct will have a different number of delegates and alternates that can be elected. It is based on the population of your Precinct.

Note: The more people from our Senate District who vote in the Primary, the more delegates (strength) our Senate District will have going into the State Convention, giving more power to our Senate District at the State Convention. This process all begins when you vote in your Party's State Primary and attend your Precinct Convention.

Collin County has two different Senate Districts: 8 and 30.  Precinct 60 is in Senate District 8

Senatorial District Convention Process:

The process for the SD Convention begins several months before the Primary when temporary chairs are established for each committee  responsible for the functions of the convention.

  • Credentials: This committee determines the eligibility and hears contests of those submitted to be delegates to the convention. They will recommend a Permanent Roll of delegates of the Convention
  • Rules: This committee determines the rules that will apply to the SD 8 convention.
  • Permanent Organization: The committees that operate before the convention are temporary. This committee will recommend people who will be elected as permanent members of the actual SD 8 convention.
  • Resolutions: This committee reviews the resolutions that were passed in Precinct Conventions. This committee will condense similar resolutions, hear defense of your resolution, or reject resolutions. Note: Resolutions are still allowed for submission on the SD Convention floor per convention rules.
  • Nominations: This committee will deliberate to make nominations to the Permanent Nominations Committee that will determine the delegates that go on to the next convention.

At the time of the convention, the body will vote for and elect permanent members of committees along with the Chair for the duration of the convention. The various committees will give reports about their process, and resolutions will then be read, considered, and voted on the floor. If a resolution passes, they will be included in the SD 8 convention platform report andwill be submitted to the State.

Republican State Convention:

This year, the state convention will be held in Houston, TX on June 10,11,and 12.  You must be nominated in the SD convention to move on to the State Convention.  Rooms are scarce the closer to the convention and get very pricey!  Reserve early!!!!
